Many years ago I took a class on evolutionary biology and one of the things that we talked about was Horizontal Gene Transfer. This is a totally cool idea, basically viruses can move DNA between species, plants to animals, fish to mammals. You can read more about it here: Does evolution select for faster evolvers?
The first time I heard the professor talk about it the first thing that came to mind was “Holy Shit! That has to be the nerdiest pick up line ever uttered.”
“How about we go back to my place and practice a little Horizontal Gene Transfer?”
Go out and use it! Now!
