Michigan Pair Blows Robbery Attempt - August 30, 2006

Big thanks to the fine folks at Fleshbot for keeping me up to date on the hijinks in my home town.

It seems that while robbing a second-hand clothing store one of the culprits insisted that the other give him a blow job. Let me say that again, they momentarily stopped the robbery so she could give him a blow job. Robbing a second-hand clothing store isn’t exactly the brightest thing to do, pausing for a blow job really is the icing on the cake (no pun intended).

Oh and did I mention that the robbery took place about five blocks from Ann Arbor’s main police station.

I miss Ann Arbor.

my next project

So I was thinking that my next project would be a picnic table as I think that would be very cool to build, but today I stumbled upon a great project, the Aldo Leopold bench.

I think a couple of these would be great in so many ways. It looks cool, it would be great to have a couple in the front yard to sit on and hang out and it seems pretty straight forward to make.Aldo Leopold Bench

Here’s a link to a great PDF with instructions.

I also put together a SketchUp model for the bench. Feel free to download it.

building a sawhorse

I bought some new tools last week because I wanted to get back to working with my hands more than I have been. Since it’s been a while since I’ve done anything that might be called serious carpentry I figured I should start with something that I could both use and that would remind me of the details that I’d forgotten.

To that end I decided to build a couple of sawhorses. I’ll need them for future projects and they would require me to pay attention to what I was doing and have a couple of tricky cuts. I drew up the plans with the help of Sketchup from Google.
sawhorse - parts

Here are the parts for the sawhorse.
sawhorse - assembly

And here’s how the parts go together.

It was more work then I expected, but it was a lot of fun. The finished product was far from prefect but they’ll get the job done and stand up to a lot of abuse.

My next two projects are a screen door as I don’t have one and I really miss the sound of a screen door slamming now and again. And I think I’m going to build a picnic table as well. Plans and pictures for upcoming projects will follow.

Feel free to download the SketchUp model that I used for this project.

The world needs more burlesque

I’m more than willing to admit that I’m a big fan of porn. I think that human sexuality is a wonderful thing and I’m one of those people who thinks that it is far more offensive to show someone being killed than it is to show people having sex. That said, I’m not a big fan of strip clubs, it’s not that I don’t think folks should be doing that kind of thing, more power to them. No, I just don’t find them all that much fun. What I wish is that we had more burlesque, I really like the theatre and art that is part of the burlesque tradition.

Thanks to Violet Blue (whose children I would like to bear some day) I now know about some really great burlesque videos on that tube thing. Here’s one of my favorites, Cherry Knight.
